-CONTENT PRODUCTION-

AUDIOPEN AI

(Not sponsored)

Audiopen takes rambling, jumbled voice recordings and uses AI to convert them into structured text notes.

Over the past month or so I’ve found myself using it on a daily basis and at various stages of the content creation process.

Let’s dig in.

What You Can Do With It đź’Ş

After recording your voice, it uses AI to remove filler words (uhms and ahs), clean up the grammar, and spit out a coherent piece of writing.

It strips out the mumbling and repetition.

The free version is limited to this function alone and only gives you 3-minute recordings.

But things start to get very spicy with the premium version.

Here are some of the additional features you get with Audiopen Prime:

  • Convert 15-minute voice notes into text notes

  • Upload your own audio clips (so you’re not restricted to using Audiopen’s in-built recording function)

  • Use AI to combine your notes into “super summaries”

  • Ask for your text notes in the style of famous authors/bloggers

  • Zapier integrations (eg. auto-send your notes to a Notion database)

  • Tagging of text notes for better organization

I follow the founder Louis Perera on Twitter and it’s pretty clear they’re shipping out new features at a break-neck pace.

Use Cases For Creators 🛠️

Ultimately, the main benefit is that you can transform your thoughts into coherent writing without having to type anything.

📝 Bloggers/Writers: Organize blog post/article ideas and structure post outlines using voice notes. You could even draft entire blog posts on the go if you wanted to.

🎥 YouTubers: Capture and organize video ideas and create video scripts with voice notes.

🎙️ Podcasters: Create podcast scripts, show notes, and transcripts using voice notes.

I drafted part of this newsletter using Audiopen after spitballing into the mic for a few minutes.

Trust me, the recording was a mess.

Despite being alone at the time, I was embarrassed by how incoherent I sounded.

But here’s a screenshot of the organized text it generated from my terrible recording:

Neat, right?

It’s so much more than a basic speech-to-text generator.

The tool allows you to get your thoughts out by speaking.

It then does the job of organizing them for you in writing.

With the premium version, you can specify exactly how you want those thoughts organized too.

Eg. taking your voice notes and creating a YouTube script in the style of MrBeast.

Or a blog post in the style of James Clear.

And so on.

A Few Limitations

  • Certain words might get misinterpreted or misrecorded. This was surprisingly uncommon but did happen. Audio quality does have an impact.

  • I use the Premium version and think it’s well worth it, but it would have been nice to get a free trial before having to shell out.

Pricing 💰️

  • Free - 3-minute voice notes

  • Prime - Additional features as above. $60/yr or a Lifetime Deal for $120

  • 30-day refund policy

The Bottom Line 👨‍⚖️

Very useful if you write anything at any stage of the content creation process.

Give it a go!
