ChatGPT Prompt: Analogies On Demand
Writing should feel like laying stepping stones.
Each word should contribute toward bridging the gap between a concept and your reader’s understanding.
There are certain tools you can use to help you lay those stones.
Analogies happen to be one of them.
They can simplify complex concepts and make them more relatable and easy to comprehend.
(Yes, I went meta with this one).
The trouble with analogies is that they can be tough to come up with.
Get it wrong and you risk coming across as though you’re trying too hard or even worse - like a rambler.
I created a ChatGPT prompt to generate a list of potential analogies for a concept or idea I’m trying to explain.
It works and it works well.
In fact, I often like to start my writing with analogies these days. This prompt has helped me come up with doozies.
So, try it out.
Fill in whichever blanks you feel would be most useful. Then, copy and paste it into ChatGPT.
The Prompt Template 🤖:
“Please generate effective analogies to enhance my writing. I need analogies to better explain a concept or idea. Analogies can help simplify complex concepts and make them more relatable to the reader. Please consider the following information to provide me with relevant analogies:
The concept or idea I want to explain using an analogy: [insert]
Target audience: [insert]
Tone or style of the article: [insert, e.g., formal, casual, technical, humorous]
Specific aspects or attributes of the concept I want to emphasize: [insert]
Any specific emotions or reactions I want the analogy to evoke: [insert]”
Example 💻️ :
I asked ChatGPT for a list of analogies to help me explain the importance of identifying the target audience when creating content.
Here’s the prompt.
Zoom in if you have to.
Prompt 📣 :

Response 📣:

Not all of them are going to be perfect.
In fact, you may want to ask for more examples if you aren’t happy with the first set.
But there’s a good chance you’ll find some absolute gold.
AI Story Of The Day đź“°
Sam Altman Vs Congress
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will testify before Congress tomorrow. The focus will be on the regulation of AI; it’s come under increasing scrutiny in recent months.
The spreading of misinformation and job displacement will most likely be on the menu.
It’ll be a fun watch, I would imagine. The questions thrown at tech titans by Congress aren’t usually the most tech-literate.
It’s pretty incredible how Sam Altman has been propelled into tech stardom since the release of ChatGPT just a few short months ago.
