Endless Content Ideas With AI And Reddit

Welcome to The Pen Pivot!

At 9am (EST) every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we show tech-savvy writers how to use AI and new tech to write better content, faster.

In today’s email:

  • AI Tool Of The Day 🛠️ - More image-generation goodness.

  • AI Content Tip Of The Day🖋️ - How to use Reddit + ChatGPT to generate endless ideas for content.

  • AI Story Of The Day đź“°- Google’s answer to ChatGPT enters the arena.

AI Tool Of The Day 🛠️

Blue Willow - Create logos, graphics, photo-realistic scenes, and much more. Enter a prompt and get a bunch of images thrown back at you.

While Midjourney and Stable Diffusion remain the kings of this kingdom, Blue Willow has definitely made itself known in recent weeks.

This is partly because it’s free (for now).

ChatGPT Prompt: Content Ideas From Reddit

Reddit is the intelligent extended cousin of the social media family.

It may not be to everyone’s taste but does have a certain level of respect relative to its siblings.

It’s a community-based platform where people share ideas.

Given how niche these communities are, the members often know what they’re talking about.

Each community or “subreddit” is a content creator's goldmine.

I often trawl through Reddit when looking for ideas to write about, often getting lost in a sea of very niche and specific problems.

I then turn these problems into content ideas.

I created a ChatGPT prompt to quickly convert popular Reddit posts into a list of potential topics to create content about.

No matter what type of content you produce, try it out.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Find a subreddit closely related to the content you create. For example, if you write fantasy novels, check out r/fantasywriters. (Seriously, you should - it’s wild). Alternatively, r/writing.

  2. Sort the Reddit posts - click on “Top”, then “All Time” or “This Year”.

  3. Drag your cursor down the screen to highlight and copy as many of the post headings and previews as you can. Remember, ChatGPT has a word limit, so don’t make the paste excessive.

Then, use the prompt template below to generate a list of categorized content ideas.

The Prompt Template 🤖:

"I’m a [insert your role and content medium eg. travel writer] and I want to generate content ideas from Reddit posts.

I’m going to copy and paste headlines and previews from the top posts on the subreddit [insert name of subreddit].

Please analyze the headlines and categorize the posts based on their themes or topics. Ignore sponsored posts. Provide a brief explanation of each post's content in a single sentence, placing them in their respective categories.

Your response should be phrased from the perspective of someone giving me ideas for content.

**[Copy and paste the Reddit content]**

Example 💻️ :

I copied and pasted some of the top Reddit posts on r/travelhacks and got the following in response:

Zoom in if you have to.

I then asked ChatGPT to rephrase the response in the form of content titles:

Bard Vs ChatGPT

We all knew this was coming.

Just a few short months ago, Google announced a “Code Red” in response to the threat posed by ChatGPT.

Bard is widely considered to be Google’s equivalent.

A conversational AI chat service.

It’s too early to tell how well it holds up in the ring.

Recent announcements have made it clear that Google is looking to swiftly export Bard to its suite of tools - everything from Google Docs to Gmail.

It’s certainly got distribution on its side.

But whether it comes out on top is what we’re all eager to see.

And that’s all for today!

See you tomorrow for more AI + content creation goodness 🙂
