-AI-GENERATED IMAGES-
LEXICA
Lexica is a search engine for artwork created using the AI image generator Stable Diffusion.
It’s a huge database of images created by other people.
Type in the image you want to see and see examples of AI images matching your query.
Why is that valuable?
Because you get to see what prompt generated each image…
For free.
Once you find an image style you like, you can tweak its prompt and make it your own.
This takes part of the guesswork out of image prompting.
It makes it much more likely that you’ll get the image output you’re looking for.
Here’s a short and sweet guide to get you started.
đź’¨ Quickstart Guide
1. Go to lexica.art
Search for the image you’re trying to create yourself.
You want to try and find one that matches your vision as much as possible.
For example, if you want an image of a scene, object, or anything else, search for it.
Eg. “a man in a navy suit and tie”.
If you’re looking for a specific style, try searching for it as best as you can.
Eg. “mysterious”, “neo-noir”, “ultra-realistic”, etc.
2. Click on an image you like
Once you’ve found an image you like the style of, click it.
I searched for “man in suit and tie illustration”.

These are all AI images created by other people using Stable Diffusion at some point in time.
Crazy, right?
This one caught my eye:

A cool illustration of Steve Jobs with a beautiful teal and orange color scheme.
I now want to copy the style for my own AI-generated image.
3. Tweak the prompt
Here’s the prompt that generated the Steve Jobs image above:
“Steve Jobs inside a vintage alley in 1920s London, mafia boss, haze, surrounded by mob, marvel art style, digital art, teal and orange”
Let’s say I want a very similar image of a groom at a wedding.
I could tweak the prompt like this:
“Groom at his wedding, vintage London, haze, surrounded by guests, digital art, teal and orange”
4. Test your prompt
I could put that prompt into any AI image generator.
Midjourney, Canva AI, Blue Willow, etc.
Lucky for us, Lexica has its own image generator too (free up to 16 images/month for personal use).
Click “Generate” on Lexica’s nav bar (or use the link above).
Enter your tweaked prompt and then generate.

Here’s what it produced:

Limitations
The images could be organized better on the search page. Eg. with filters categorizing them by style, content, etc. It can take a while to find the style of image you’re looking for at times.
If you’re using Lexica for image generation, you’ll notice that the quality isn’t as good as Midjourney. It’s cheaper though - great for getting started.
Pricing 💰️
If you’re simply using Lexica as a search engine for image inspiration and prompt ideas, it’s free.
But if you want to use Lexica as an image generator, it’s paid (although it has a minimal free plan).
Free - 16 images/month. Personal use only.
Starter - 1000 images/month. Commercial license (solo).
Pro - 3000 images/month. Commercial license (as always, be sure to read the terms and conditions).
Max - 7000 images/month. Commercial license. Images private.
