🩹 HOOK FIX

Today’s Bad Headline: “A Pickleball Warm-Up Stretch You Need To Know”

It isn’t the worst.

But it doesn’t strike up an emotion and so would probably get ignored.

Let’s apply the 3-step headline fix-up process and turn it into a headline that begs you to click on it.

Step 1: Apply Ultra-Specificity

Let’s specify the:

  • Time it takes = 1 minute

  • Body part = Hamstring

💡 Improved Headline: “Do This 1-Minute Hamstring Stretch Before Every Pickleball Game”

The specificity already makes you more curious.

But we’re not done yet…

Step 2: Apply An Emotional Lever

  • Trust: We could add trust to the headline by making it clear who the source is. Eg. a coach, player, ex-player, sports therapist, etc.

  • Concern: Let’s highlight that this stretch will prevent a negative outcome - i.e. an injury.

💡 Improved Headline: “Pickleball Semi-Pro Shares A 1-Minute Warm-Up Stretch To Prevent Hamstring Strains”

A quick and easy action (1-minute stretch) that leads to a large benefit (preventing a strain) is an irresistible proposition.

Step 3: Cut The Fluff

We could remove the words “shares a” without impacting the meaning or the emotional pull.

💡 Final Headline: “Pickleball Semi-Pro’s 1-Minute Warm-Up Stretch Prevents Hamstring Strains”

Much better 🙂.

🧠 Why The Headline Works:

  • Problem-Solution Framework: The headline introduces the product as a solution to a common problem.

  • Instant Gratification: People love quick, easy, and effective solutions to problems.

  • Social Proof: The use of personal experience adds trust and relatability.

🔁 How To Adapt It For Your Niche:

  1. Pick A Product: One in your niche that can demonstrate a rapid effect or improvement.

  2. Define A Specific, Desirable Goal: One that your target audience wants to achieve - a common problem that the product solves.

  3. Specify The Timeframe: Include an attention-grabbing, short timeframe in the headline to highlight the product’s power.
